Basic requirement
Future pilots should count qualities such as reliability, honesty, punctuality, accuracy and level-headedness among their strengths. In addition, a range of soft skills and social skills are also required for later professional life. These include team spirit, assertiveness and the ability to take criticism.
The job also requires a certain level of physical fitness and stamina. Both must be proven as part of a medical aptitude test with a special aviation doctor or at an aviation examination center. For applicants who feel normal and healthy and have no serious complaints or illnesses, the medical fitness certificate, Medical Class I, should be an insurmountable hurdle. Unfortunately, however, even minor issues such as a slight red-green visual impairment can rule out obtaining a medical certificate.
A secondary school leaving certificate is generally sufficient for training as a pilot. However, almost all airlines now require a general higher education entrance qualification.
Can you identify with these points? Congratulations, then you are basically suitable for a career as a pilot. Each airline has its own requirements that it places on its applicants. It is therefore advisable to check the website of your chosen airline individually.
